Grants & Loans

CIHA and its affiliate Cook Inlet Lending Center offer grants and low interest loans allowing homeowners to address energy efficiency, life-safety and livability issues in their homes.
Home Enhancement Loan Program (HELP)
This program offers maximum $5,000 loans at 4% interest to help pay for items such as major appliances, window coverings, new flooring, new decks, major yard work, paint, gutters, new cabinets or countertops and much more.
Safe and Healthy Home
The Safe and Healthy Home Program offers a combination of grant and loan funds to address eligible home improvement needs of qualified elders, individuals and families. Eligible projects include: accessibility improvements; health and life safety improvements; weatherization and energy efficiency improvements. Repairs considered to be of a maintenance nature are not eligible under this program.

Summer Work Camps
Cook Inlet Housing Authority works with volunteer organizations to offer summer work camps. These camps offer youth an intensive one-week opportunity to perform hands-on home repair for people who could really use the help. CIHA works with the youth and their adult chaperones to provide free home improvements such as exterior paint, porch repairs and new accessibility ramps. Cook Inlet Housing Authority has provided home imrovement services through these camps to qualified families in Anchorage, Tyonek, Ninilchik and the MatSu Valley.
